The Šárka-Lysolaje Natural Park
Walk down the street V Šáreckém udolí, which leads along a brook, from the crossroads at Břetislavka and enjoy the beautiful sceneries. After some 7 kilometres you will reach the park.
The natural preserve Divoká Šárka tretches along the Šárecký potok brook and its rocky slopes between the Džbán gorge and Devil’s Mill (Čertův mlýn), fields and meadows above, particularly on its right bank. The fields and meadows gradually turn into a vast wooded area, creating one of the largest parks in Prague.
Šárka promises natural sceneries that will surprise you
A significant fortified settlement was found here as early as the 8th century. And it was by no means a coincidence that our ancestors chose to build their settlement right here. Just take a look around and let the unique and unforgettable sceneries carry you away.
Divoká Šárka is a unique natural monument from geological, botanical and zoological point of view. No wonder it became the first listed natural monument in the Prague region. It’s been a listed national cultural monument since 1995.
Let the beauty of the romantic rocky valley overwhelm you. A legend called Šárka and Ctirad, which is based on a story that allegedly happened in the Śárka forest, is connected with this place.
The whole area of the natural preserve Divoká Šárka is a great place to let your hair down, as it were. In fact, it is one of the few places in Prague where one can have a picnic. You can start a fire in the open or bring your own grill. The choice is yours.
This is also a great place for bothhikers and cyclists. And those who like jogging will definitely appreciate the fact that the preserve offers a large number of jogging trails. In fact, running contests are regularly held here. On a hot summer day one can refresh oneself in an outdoor swimming pool or in the Džbán lake. The rocky formations promise a lot of thrill for mountaineers and when snow falls down in winter the whole preserve turns into a paradise for cross-country skiers.
