Soaring to a height of 63.5 metres, the Petřín Lookout Tower is situated in the very heart of the Czech capital. The tower top lies 378 metres above sea level which makes it the highest spot in Prague. The 299 steps leading there are definitely worth climbing because if you put forth the effort, you will be rewarded by breathtaking panoramic views of the whole of Prague, the city of a hundred spires.
Built on top of the highest hill in Prague, the Petřín Tower is one of the dominant features of the Czech capital. You can either take a walk across the surrounding park to get there or enjoy a comfortable funicular ride.
Magnificent views
Frequently dubbed as the Eiffel Tower of Prague, the Petřín Tower is a place to go for everyone who wants to enjoy magnificent views of the whole of Prague, the city considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in the world. And if the weather permits, you will be able to see much farther than the dominant features of Prague such as the Prague Castle.
The romantic hills of Petřín
Petřín is located in the very centre of Prague. This makes it an extremely popular and sought-after chill-out area. You can spend hours walking up and down infinity of paths leading all over the surrounding park. Many of these paths offer more than decent amounts of privacy and largely contribute to Petřín’s reputation of a highly romantic place which fresh-air seeking lovers frequent.
Adding to the romantic spirit are a number of statues of Czech writers, poets and artists scattered along these paths.
If you wish to learn something new, you may consider visiting the Štefánik Observatory or the Mirror Maze.
